After the recent AGM, HeART in the Park get-together and some spruiking in the Kalamunda markets Zig Zag Community Arts is set for another exciting year in the hills community. There is no doubt Zig Zag Community Arts is entering into a new era, with the stepping down of their chairperson at a recent AGM.
The group was thrilled to have 19 new names on the member list as well as a list of people wanting to be involved in the groups trademark event, the Zig Zag Festival for 2009. The Festival is coordinated each year by the group, with support from the Shire of Kalamunda.
Vice Chair Lyn Harris said, “It is fabulous to have so many new faces, as theses people represent many ages and parts of our rich and diverse community. It also gives new spark and creativity to ensure that we stay in touch with the community. Currently the role of Chair is still to be filled and we are accepting expressions of interest at the moment. ”
The role of Zig Zag Community Arts is to improve community access, appreciation and participation in community arts whilst also building a creative community network to support community cultural development in the Kalamunda region.
Past Chair JO Randall said, “I’m really proud to have been associated with the committee for about 9 years and am continuing to assist with our volunteer drive. We are looking for someone who has some knowledge of our unique community arts event and all the workshops and events that lead to it each year to fill the role of chair. Someone who believes in our vision ‘ A Community Connected by Creativity.’”
The group provides a forum and resource for all community members to engage in arts participation, education and enjoyment whilst also celebrating and nurturing our cultural legacy, acknowledging the rich heritage of the traditional owners and of people and events that have formed this community.
If you believe you have the requirements of a Chair person for such a prominent community organisation or would like further information please contact Zig Zag Community Arts on 9293 0021.
