Skate and Blacksmithing School Holidays Workshops  

 

The Shire of Kalamunda will be holding a series of workshops in metal sculpture, blacksmith design and skate ramp construction, as well as holding a street obstacle skate park during the school holidays at the Anderson Road Community Centre in Forrestfield.

 

During the metal sculpture workshops interested youth will work in a team to create a metal sculpture to be displayed out the front of the Anderson Road Community Centre whilst the skate construction workshops enables youth to build there own skate spine rails and ramps, whilst also learning professional welding techniques with a MIG welder and then skate on your creation!

Kevin O’Conner, Executive Manager of Community Services at the Shire of Kalamunda said, “This is fantastic opportunity for young people. I am looking forward to seeing the sculpture and spinr ramps that will be created and think it will be an enjoyable experience for those involved.”

 

The Skate ramps and rails construction workshop and Blacksmithing sculpture workshops will be held in January. The Saturday morning skate park reopens Saturday 19 January 2008, 9am – 1pm, and will run each Saturday morning there after. . The street obstacles are not suitable for bikes, so its skaters only.

 

All participants must be aged over 13 of age. Members of the community interested in the workshops must register their interest, so contact the Shire’s Youth Development Officer now via phone 9257 9968 or email kala.shire@kalmunda.wa.gov.au to confirm your place.
