Over 5000 Walk the Zig Zag for 2009
Walk the Zig Zag 2009 has come and gone with over 5000 residents and visitors alike taking part on the day. This year Walk the Zig Zag was all about the Earth, with a theme of ‘Get Keen and Live Green.’ With wild flowers in full bloom and a range of free activities for the kids, entertainment at every bend of the Zig Zag, Camel Rides and displays, there was something for everyone. Walk the Zig Zag is an annual three kilometer downhill walk along the Zig Zag Trail, Scenic Drive in Gooseberry Hill proudly presented by the Shire of Kalamunda.
Shire President Donald McKechnie said, “A vast array of entertainment and activities, art and culture was bought together for what is, in my opinion, the most enjoyable and entertaining 3km walk in Australia.”
“Roving performers, musicians, entertainment, wild flower walks, animals, displays and presentations were packed at each bend of the Zig Zag, all on the backdrop of the spectacular Gooseberry Hill National Park.
“Such events do not come about without the collaborative effort of our Community Groups, local Businesses and Local Government and I would like to sincerely thank all of the community groups and businesses involved for their invaluable support of Walk the Zig Zag this year and congratulate their members, volunteers and supporters for their significant contributions to our community.”
The Shire President also congratulated Event Coordinator Marilyn Keys and staff at the Shire of Kalamunda for their efforts.
Event Coordinator Marilyn Keys said, “'It was the best yet, the weather was there, the people were there and fun was in the air. The program was a great success with a huge assortment of activities and entertainment.”
