| The Young Ones |

THE madcap antics of Vyvyan, Neil, Rick and Mike had Goldfields audiences in fits of laughter earlier this year - and now Perth fans of the smash hit TV show The Young Ones will be able to 'join the freedom moped ride' as well.Production Manager and Stage Left Vice President Lisa van Oyen said enthusiastic negotiations have been underway for quite some time between Stage Left; the three writers of the original hit TV show and the Coordinator of Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre, Melanie DeCull.
Melanie said, "The show appeals to all ages, lovers of the hit BBC TV show, the theatrical exploits and insane humour, and witnessed the youth who have never seen the series revel in the madcap 80's style which instigated many of today's comedy tv shows." Stage Left are a relatively young theatre troupe, and have created a strongr eputation for shows with a difference including the 2008 production Pirates of Penzance - theatre in the bush. The troupe staged an outdoor theatre show complete with three course dinner, bar, accommodation and breakfast at a sheep station approximately 30 minutes east of Kalgoorlie. "Stage Left's mottois to 'take theatre to the people' because a Troupe travels about - so when this opportunity knocked, we decided to grab it!" said van Oyen.
Director Julian Canny adapted a number ofYoung Ones episodes to create the play, which made its world debut this year, with Stage Left staking a claim as the first community theatre to ever be granted the rights to adapt the show to stage. The three writers; actor/author Ben Elton; actor Rik Mayall and writer Lise Mayer each have again given their blessing; and support the touring production. Mr Canny said Perth fans of the show will be guaranteed a night of laughs with anarchy, plate smashing, lentils, poetry, a live band and Sir Cliff Richard!
The Young Ones will perform an exclusive one show only at 8pm on Saturday August 15 at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre in Kalamunda. Tickets are $25 Full and $20 Concession. Bookings open through TAZ Tix with full details at www.tazentertainment.com.au
