High Wycombe Rec Centre Paint Up

A ‘Paint Up’ will be held at the High Wycombe Community and Recreation Centre from Monday the 14th of July till Friday the 18th of July as a part of the Shire of Kalamunda School Holiday programme.

The exterior wall in the youth space courtyard at the HWCRC requires another mural piece, as the current mural is faded and looks untidy. Therefore Youth will be invited to create their own work and showcase their artistic flair.

Executive Manager of Community Services Kevin O’Conner said, “Youth who are looking for an outlet to showcase their creative abilities and further enhance their skills are encouraged to take part in the paint up.”

The ‘Paint Up’ will be facilitated by renowned artist Dan Duggan who has run a series of similar public art projects across the state.  The workshop will take place from 10.00am till 3.00pm each day and encompasses a design phase followed by the painting of the mural, which will be visible for all to see at the High Wycombe Recreation Centre on Newburn Road in High Wycombe. All materials are provided and the workshop is fully supervised.

The workshop was planned following the success of the  ‘paint the youth space wall panel’ workshops  that took place during the April School Holidays. Youth interested in art and living within the Shire of Kalamunda are strongly encouraged to take part in the ‘Paint Up.’ It is a fantastic way to spend the school holidays and gives the opportunity to create public art, that can be left for all members of the community to enjoy.
