Hartfield Park Most Outstanding Metropolitan Provider for 2009 at Living Longer Living Stronger Excellence Awards

The Council on the Ageing held the inaugural Living Longer Living Stronger Excellence Awards for 2009 on Friday 30th October at Burswood on Swan Function Centre. The Shire of Kalamunda’s Hartfield Park Recreation Centre, along with the City of Gosnells Leisure World and Como Health and Fitness were named as the finalists for the Most Outstanding Metropolitan Provider. Hartfield Park Recreation Centre, located at 199 Hale Road In Forrestfield took out the excellence award for the Most Outstanding Metropolitan Provider for 2009.

 

Shire President Donald McKechnie said, “I would like to congratulate our Recreation Centre Staff on the Excellence Award.  It is a prestigious honour for the Shire to be recognized as the Most Outstanding Metropolitain Provider of the Living Longer Living Stronger programme that reflects the hard work, dedication of Council and staff at the Shire of Kalamunda.”

 

Shire of Kalamunda staff Richard Wilson, Michelle Page, Emily Everett, Scott Green and Andrew Dunn accepted the award on behalf of the Recreation Team at Hartfield Park Recreation Centre.

 

Coordinator of Recreation Services at the Shire of Kalamunda John Langley said, “Being awarded the Most Outstanding Metropolitan Provider is a massive achievement for the centre. Staff at Hartfield Park Recreation Centre are committed to the Living Longer Living Stronger program and are already focused on being a finalist in the excellence awards for 2010.”

 

The Awards Ceremony was attended by over 200 people who are involved in the Living Longer Living Stronger Program and included addresses by the Living Longer Living Stronger Ambassador the Honorable Graham Edwards and the Council on the Ageing President Bettine Heathcote.

 

Tim Gossage from Channel 10 Perth was Special Guest and MC for the ceremony. The awards recognised the achievements and efforts of the Living Longer Living Stronger providers and their participants throughout the Perth metropolitan area and country areas. The Excellence Awards included Most Outstanding Metropolitan Provider, Most Outstanding Regional Provider, Most Outstanding Metropolitan Instructor and Most Outstanding Achievement by a Participant – Metropolitan to name a few.
