SUSPENSION OF PROHIBITED BURNING TIMES

 

 

Please be advised that pursuant to Sections 17 and 18 of the Bush Fires Act 1954 the Shire of Kalamunda hereby gives notice that the Prohibited Burning Period will be suspended from midnight 20 April 2007.The Restricted Burning Period will be reimposed from midnight 20 April 2007 until midnight 30 April 2007.

 

What This Means?         Residents can now burn with a permit which can be obtained from a Fire Control Officer from the Shire of Kalamunda. Permits will be issued on weekdays from 8.30am until 5pm. Residents are advised to contact Ranger Services to discuss what they are looking to burn then arrangements will be made to issue a permit if it is considered suitable and safe.

 

Residents can burn a small pile no larger than 1 cubic metre without a permit after 6pm provided they have running water and rakes at the site. A five metre cleared area surrounding the pile. A person must be in attendance at all times and the fire must be COMPLETELY extinguished by midnight or upon leaving the site. Residents are also advised to contact their neighbours to advise them that they are burning. Penalties do apply for people burning more than what they are supposed to.

 

Please be aware that the Restricted Burning Period may be extended. Please contact the Shire’s Fire Information Line on 6293 1990 prior to any burning to check the restrictions or for further information, please contact Ranger Services on 9257 9999.
