Theme: Reading is My Secret Power
When: 17– 23rd August
We are very excited to be hosting four fantastic authors – Aska (Illustrator), Josh Langley, Karen Blair and Ken Spillman who will be presenting sessions at each of our Libraries. Over 800 local school children from Pre-Primary through to Year 7 and 8 will be attending the author sessions.

We are also pleased to announce that internationally renowned storyteller Andy Wright will be joining us for Book Week.  Andy is a world-class performer having spent over 25 years telling stories to audiences in schools, theatres, and festivals throughout Europe, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to these fabulous author talks, each of the Libraries will be displaying the short-listed CBCA Books together with displays based on the 2019 theme ‘Reading is My Secret Power.’

Children’s Book Week 2019 is sponsored by the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries, Lotterywest, Healthway: Go for 2&5 Health Message, Children’s Book Council Western Australia Branch and the City of Kalamunda.

About Book Week

Each year across Australia, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) brings children and books together to celebrate Children's Book Week. During this time, schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature.
