Join dozens of community volunteers in bringing this iconic site alive!
UP THE CREEK! is a community project on an iconic site next to the Lesmurdie Falls in Falls Road Lesmurdie. It is co-ordinated by two local groups – Friends of Upper Lesmurdie Falls and Lesmurdie & Districts Community Assoc. Inc. Our aim is to completely upgrade the site for community and visitor use. The site connects to the falls themselves and the project will take until the end of the year to fully complete.
Pathways are already installed and are open to the public. Bridges crossing the creek are planned along with creative seating. Dozens of community members have already cleared the site and are involved in planting natives as well as clearing out non-indigenous species.
More volunteers are invited and you can be involved in the fabrication of the bridges along with new plantings along the creek and across the site.
High School Students are invited to join the project for free workshops in the design, creation and installation of unique seating across the site, and Pieter Baarspul is our appointed Artist in Residence to work with the students. The workshops will commence this month.
